New Moon Yoga LLC Rises Above Recession

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 23, 2009 – A new yoga studio, New Moon Yoga LLC, opened its doors last month on West Knoxville's busy Cedar Bluff Rd.
"It's not exactly the best time to be starting a business," said New Moon's sole partner and head yoga instructor David Morgan, "but then again, when people are stressed, there's no better time for them to take a break, stretch out and relax with some yoga. And that's exactly what appears to be happening."
"Despite an economy in retreat and summer being a traditionally slow time of year for the yoga business, we've gotten a great start," said Morgan. "Specials we ran our opening week provided enough income to cover our expenses for the next couple of months while membership builds." And membership is building. Morgan reports that the studio is on track to being self-supporting by August. "That bodes very well for September, when kids are back in school. Of course, there are no guarantees in business."
Morgan's first experience with yoga was while studying meditation in India on a college program in the early 1990s. "It didn't take," he said, "college kids -- this one, at least -- had different priorities." Morgan's next experience with yoga wasn't until well after college while living in New York City. He moved back to Knoxville in 2002, and by 2006 was taking another serious look at yoga practice.
"Maybe it's a cultural thing, but the gyms in Knoxville seemed at that time to be doing their best to reduce yoga to stretching exercises. No one was teaching breathing or meditation, and no one was talking about awareness, consciousness, or yoga as a path of self-discovery. Yoga studios, on the other hand, were too expensive for someone on a tight budget who wanted to attend regularly. So I figured I'd get the most bang for my buck by investing in becoming a yoga teacher myself. Thanks to a gift from a generous friend, I was able to attend a yoga teacher training in 2007 at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The idea of owning a yoga studio has been on my mind since that time."
Morgan has remembered his experience as a hungry yoga student in creating New Moon Yoga LLC's business strategy. Folsom Personal Trainer Val Fujii Reveals 4 Father’s Day Fitness Tips

Tip#2- Work your lower body
Most men just want to work their upper bodies since that’s what most people see on the beach or poolside. But the majority of your muscle mass, and thus metabolism, is contained within your lower body so you simply cannot afford to neglect training your legs if your goal is to torch your gut.
Tip#3- Seek professional advice from a fitness expert
Most guys are too stubborn to seek advice form others when it comes to their health and fitness. Dads need to learn from moms in that it’s best to seek the help of an expert when trying to reach their physical goals. Hire a personal trainer or save some money and join a local fitness boot camp to get the results you seek.
Obstacle#4- Do something besides bicep curls and bench presses
The typical guy only likes to work the mirror muscles- more specifically their arms and chest. Doing too many exercises that work the front of your upper body will lead to strength imbalances that worsen posture and leave you susceptible to both short and long-term shoulder injuries. Do less benching and curling and more rowing and pulling exercises to offset this imbalance and to keep healthy.

Renton Fitness Expert Luka Hocevar Calls Kentucky Grilled BS

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 11, 2009 – Luka Hocevar, a local Renton fitness expert and boot camp instructor, is not happy with how the fast food industry misleads consumers by giving them  poor information on their food and its fattening effects.  It happens all too often in today’s society.  According to Hocevar, there are guidelines to help cut through all of the misinformation.  
Hocevar mentions that one of the largest fast-food restaurants, KFC, recently claimed that it switched cooking oils to eliminate all trans-fats from their products, but upon further review of the actual nutritional facts posted on the KFC website, this doesn’t seem to be the case.  “Partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oil were listed, which is simply another word for trans-fat. Trans- fats are synthetic fats that are essentially foreign agents in our bodies. There is truly no room for them in a healthy diet,” Hocevar says.  Hocevar goes on to say that a great rule of thumb is that the fewer ingredients in a food item the better it is for you, ideally less than five ingredients tends to be a good marker. “If you count the ingredients in this supposed ‘health’ food, there are well over 20!,” Hocevar is quick to point out.
Hocevar rants on further saying, “To me it’s like covering feces with a newspaper- it still stinks! After all, the high calorie side dishes accompanying the chicken are filled with refined starches and sugars and unnecessary amounts of saturated fat, which are just as much, if not more, damaging to our waistlines. It’s like ‘Congratulations! You are eating grilled chicken with a bunch of garbage on the side.’”  Hocevar emphasizes, “And it certainly is not going to help you look any better naked!”

Beware of “Fat-Free or Low Fat” Foods:
These food choices are often high in sugar or contain added sugar to make up for taste lost which wreak havoc on your energy levels and prevent fat loss.
Look Out for “Sugar-Free” Products:
These food choices are typically made with artificial ingredients and sweeteners and/or are sometimes higher in fat to make up for taste lost and/or often contains sugar-alcohols that tear up your digestive system.
Stay Away From “100 Calorie” Items:
These low calorie bags contain ZERO nutritional value with little to no protein and are low in fiber and natural, healthy fats. Plus, these weight-gainers by another name do not fill you up between meals.

Straighten your arms. Flatten your back and form a 90-degree angle with your back and legs.”

- Take a deep breath to relax. Sit on a chair with the eyes and mouth closed. Slowly take a deep breath, bringing the breath up to the collar bone. Release slowly, taking more time to exhale (than time it took to inhale).

- Daydream – think of the good times.

- Remove unwanted toxicity by taking a saltwater bath. “Add two cups of salt to a full tub of water,” she says. “Submerse your hair. Saltwater neutralizes pollution and other environmental intrusions. Put on white clothes after your bath. White deflects, black attracts – a law of physics.”

Rom Machine Review Group Study

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 01, 2009 – I am looking for an exercise machine that performs the same thing as the ROM Crosstrainer  for $5,000 or less.  We have tested the ROM Machine at www.fastexercise.com and it seems to work. The ROM Crosstrainer gives you a full body workout in 4 minutes a day and include both aerobic and strength training. I am looking for a machine that can do the same in 5 minutes a day that EFFECTIVELY does the same for the whole body.  I know there are a lot of machines that claim to do the same so I would like one with some studies or something substantial showing its effectiveness. It also needs to be easy to use with no part changes throughout the exerices.  Remember I am looking for a ROM Crosstrainer level of quality with a price less than $5,000.  The ROM Machine is almost $15,000 and they have a several month waiting list. Note: Most Rom crosstrainers don't have significant strength training for the upper body like the ROM Crosstrainer.
realize this post started from a long while ago but I thought I would mention a revolutionary whole body vibration exercise machine that is much cheaper than the ROM Crosstrainer. It costs have the price of a ROM Crosstrainer and takes a total of 12 minutes a day. Also, there is little stress to your joints as the ROM Crosstrainer exercisers would encounter. Also, the ROM Crosstrainer offer half of the benefits of a whole body vibration platform. The science for whole body vibbration is backed by NASA. It has to all do with gravity. The ROM Crosstrainer is using gravity by manipulating the load and therefore, strength increase occurs. The ROM Crosstrainer is expensive for many reasons: It is very heavily  and well built, and it sells very few units. It has  a frame as heavy as a tractor, and the heaviest fly-wheel of any exercise machine,  enhanced by a complex electro-magnetic unit, which is powered by your use. Together, they create  smooth resistance and maintain lever speed at an identical pace from rep to rep, no matter how hard you pull. A meter shows how hard you're pulling, but your percieved effort should be the same each time, if you give a full effort. . It's like doing a slow squat, row and backbend all in one, with a barbell that magically knows how much weight you can do for each rep, and each -segment- of each rep. I follow the industry fairly closely, and see no indication that any company is even -talking-about a similar item, this being over ten years since the ROM Crosstrainer was introduced.  Nothing else comes close.
